Zombies or cannibals, which is more socially acceptable?

I try really hard to blog about different subjects, you know, the ones that attract your attention, make you laugh, grimace, scowl, cringe, give you the 'dry boak' (I know it's a Scottish word, but it'll do y'all no harm to learn some words in another language) or a combination of all of the above.

Unfortunately, I'm finding myself writing about zombies and cannibalism again. So, yeah if that means I'm a sick depraved individual who is starting to appear on some real dodgy lists out there in the stratosphere then so be it.

It should be no real surprise that I've unearthed some more cannibalism/zombie stories from the worlds news recently. It's actually quite gross that there are more and more stories of people getting bits of themselves eaten, in fact bizarrely enough the recording of 'Criminal Minds' was about a cannibalistic killer who fed everyone searching the woods for the victim a very filling stew..... Oh yeah, the meat was the missing girl.

Bleurgh!

So then, what stories do we have so far?

Well, Canadian bisexual porn actor Luka Rocco Magnotta being arrested for the suspected torture, killing and eating of someone.

In Japan, Mao Sugiyama had his male genitalia removed then offered them online to diners as a ¥100,000 or about £800. Just for your information, 5 people coughed up the money and ate his 'bits'.

The Miami man who was shot dead because he was in the process of eating someone's face, incidentally the victim is STILL alive

The Maryland student who was charged with killing and eating his flat mate.

The Swedish man who cut off and ate his wife's lips, by the way, she is still alive.

The Texan woman who ate her infant son.

The man from Louisiana who argued and bit a chunk out of his ex-wife's new husband.

So then, is the beginning of a zombie apocalypse or is cannibalism gradually becoming socially acceptable?

Im actually laughing at that sentence, but it is certainly doing the trending thing on the likes of twitter, yahoo, google blah blah.

Perhaps when Stephen King had said that there was something comforting about the end of the world, he was actually making sense.

He said, 'Everyone assumes they’ll survive; all of their current problems, which seem so daunting today, are suddenly, conveniently irrelevant; and all you ever wanted is just lying around waiting for you to pick it up, including everything you need to fight off the Army of Darkness.'

Much as I would like to think if there was some apocalypse on the horizon that encourages us to eat one another, I would become an amazing shot with a cross bow, I would probably be the unfortunate vegetarian trying to eat your face.

But that's another dilemma for another day.

Zombies, Run! The Part where Will Smith Pops by to Lend a Hand

Just been dog walking and used 257 calories!!! Seriously the 'Zombie Run!' App is quite addictive, you get into the story & forget that you are actually exercising as well. Though it is a bit freaky walking along the side of the burn in the dark with a German shepherd, hearing zombie noises on your headphones & the odd cracking branch that you step on.

If you haven't watched 'I am Legend' then you won't understand why I kept expecting Will Smith to appear & have to break my dogs neck!!!! Nooooooo my poor Bon!

Im not saying for one minute that I am a complete scaredy cat but I will freely admit that when I plugged myself into my iPhone and started the app it was very easy to get immersed in the storyline.

The beauty of this is that you don't actually notice how far or long you have been exercising. It's part story, part exercise app, part game. The story begins with you in a helicopter on a secret mission about to land in Abel Township.

Abel Township is a small outpost of survivors from the zombie apocalypse and as you'd imagine they need supplies and all sorts of stuff. So it's a bit unlucky when someone, somewhere shoots down your helicopter.

Whoops, it's now time to run for your life cause those zombies heard the crash and are on their way over to you now.

Getting back to base becomes your 1st mission. In short you get a bit of story and chat from Sam Yao who is the comms guy. He will help you navigate round the zombies so you don't get eaten.

A quick word of warning though, make sure you have a suitable playlist, because I didn't. When the Sam finishes his part of the story 'invisible light' by the Scissor Sisters only served to heighten my tension.

At random intervals throughout your playlist you hear that you have picked up a first aid kit or other useful item for Abel Township, these can be given to the township after your exercise session.

When your tune finishes you get some more of Naomi Alderman's story. This is the way that the app goes. You start the mission, get a bit of story, pick up some supplies on the way, listen to your playlist and keep exercising until you either finish the mission then you can distribute your booty to the hospital, recreation area or wherever you see fit in order to grown the township.

It's a super story and I'm getting really quite into it if I'm honest, which can only be a good thing, I mean, if Six to Start and Naomi Alderman can encourage me to get of my behind and move then I reckon it would work for anyone who likes a good story.

THE WALKING DEAD

Please! When WAS the last time you washed?
Much to my delight, ‘The Walking Dead’ has returned to FX. I enjoyed the special effects, the storyline and even Andrew Lincoln’s accent change to American.

I was a bit apprehensive when I found out that there had been an array of staff changes behind the scenes to the point where I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the new series.

Would I get the same level of gore? Would the storyline still be reasonably exciting? Would there be anything quite as rank and revolting as seeing a horse being eaten by the undead?

Well, yeah there was, to all of the above questions.

We got up close and friendly with several zombies, including a spectacular view of rotting gums and teeth. So close you could almost smell the decomposition.

There was a good bit of drama in the opening episode too…. I won’t say too much in case you haven’t watched it, but when Bambi appears trust your gut instinct. Just sayin’

Blade the Horse didnt get his contract renewed
Much to my warped sense of joy, there was the ‘gore-fest, disgusting, make me look away in horror, boak inducing’ scene too. All I can say is I'm so very glad that smell-a-vision doesn’t exist.

Yup, come Friday night, Ill be tuning in to see more zombies. Feeling a bit of an expert now after all these zombie books, TV shows and films I’ve been watching, I’m not sure I ever really want to be in the position to draw on that knowledge though.

HALLOWEEN: WHAT CAR TO PERFECTLY ACCESSORIZE YOUR COSTUME

31st of October, Halloween, Samhain, All Hallows Even, or Festival of the Dead, call it what you will but it is more or less it’s all the same thing. The lead up to Halloween is now filled with people, kids and pets getting dressed up as witches, zombies, vampires, werewolves. Some even use their imagination and end up dressed up as something more original.

That made me wonder, what sort of car you would drive if you were a creature of the night….

After some thought I reckoned that Werewolves would probably require the use of a 4wd so you could go off to run as a wolf somewhere where you weren’t likely to be seen. If it had a decent load space you could stash a change of clothes there and whatever animal you had caught too.

Then I remembered how much dogs like to stick their head out the window with their tongue hanging out, getting doggie slavers down the ‘C’ pillar of the car and letting your ears blow in the wind. Dogs also like to run in packs, track and hunt. So, a combination of 4wd drive and convertible would be ideal. That leaves the limited edition Rav 4 convertible from 1999 a JEEP Wrangler or Freelander Convertible. Depending on who the Werewolf is, they might even really appreciate the idea of having an Audi Quattro Cabriolet….

So, imagine for one moment you are a Zombie for example, the choice of car isn’t going to be an issue; you are most probably not being able to do anything apart from move towards food.

Giving the odd moan you would just follow the rest of the zombie hoard on your way. Not using your brain and following the crowd could possibly mean that Zombies would drive BMW Minis.

So what would the trendy cool Vampire about town drive? I suppose it would depend on what Vampire Lore we are following. Assuming the Bram Stoker version then Vampires don’t melt in daylight, do need blood and do really need a place for a coffin.

That would mean something along the lines of a pick-up truck. Though if the Vampire in question had been around for a while they would probably have built up some cash and to be able to attract victims into your ‘ride’ may be an advantage. So I reckon an imported Ford F1 pickup or an HSV Maloo.

As for the Witch, what do you think she would drive? I drive an old scirocco; it’s held together by magic and looks a bit like a broom.
